Would Shade or Waterproof PVC suit me best?

This depends upon what you wish to utilise the covered area for. If you are under a Shade Sail in a light to medium shower, you will feel a fine mist; you can unload the car/boat with ease. In a storm the water runs off to the edges but can drip heavily on its way there.

If you are covering an entertainment area, do you want to use it when it is raining? If so you will definatley need Waterproof. When rain falls straight down a Waterproof area remains as such; when the rain is blowing in on an angle, you are still going to get wet - just as you would under a verandah.

Generally Shadetech cover swimming pools with shadecloth - after all you are going to get wet in there anyway! The shadecloth prevents a lot of leaves getting in the pool, minimises chlorine useage and reduces evaporation. We design your Shade to suit you so please discuss your individual needs with our experienced technical representative

Do I need Certification:

In the Northern Territory, any Shade that is attached to your house or over 30m² and free standing requires building certification under the Northern Territory Building Act. Shadetech is a licensed Self Cerifier and organises your certification for you.

In other Countries and even different States, Counties and Municipalities you willl have different regulations, in each case Shadetech follow the relevant policies.

What is the warranty on my Shadetech Shade Sail?

The shadecloth we use comes with a 10 year pro-rata warranty against UV degradation. This means it is fully guaranteed for the first 5 years then 80% covered in the sixth year, 60% in the seventh & so on.

PVC Fabrics come with differing warranties according to the various manufacturers; the minimum we would use is 3 years with the top line PVC's having a 5 - 10 year UV warranty and fire retardency.

All stitching is done with Tenara® UV Stabilised thread which has a 15 year UV warranty.

Shadetech are pleased to offer a 2 year warranty on our workmanship and other materials used in the manufacture of your Sail.

Shadetech is committed to providing you with the best quality materialsand highest standards of service, however in must be remembered that it is a fabric cover you are investing in, and it will deteriorate over time as any fabric would.

In the event of a Cyclone warning, follow these directions to remove your Sail(s) When it is safe to do so reverse the instructions for reinstallation

Sail(s) in a sailtrack follow 1 - 9

Most other Sails follow 1 - 6, 9 &10

  1. Take note of fixings (turnbuckles, snaphooks etc...) so you will be able to replace them in the same position
  2. Mark points so you are aware of which point goes where on reinstallation
  3. Take note of which way up the Sail is
  4. Open all turn buckles by undoing the lock nuts and winding out the body
  5. Loop a piece of rope through the O-ring/grommet to create a pulley, lever one point from post or wall
  6. The other points should now be slack enough to unhook
  7. Undo the screws in each end of the sailtrack or unlcae from wire eyestrap
  8. Slide Shade out of track
  9. Fold carefully and store
  10. Congratulations you have done well!
  11.

What maintenance do I need to perform on my Shadetech Sail?

It is advisable to keep your Shadetech Shade Sail tight to prolong its life. The turnbuckles are adjustable for easy re-tensioning and need lubricating about once a year.

To clean your Sail, Shadetech recommends the use of a mild detergent and a soft bristled brush. Work the detergent into the Sail, leave for a few minutes and then rinse of all the suds.

NOTE: Do not use bleach or mould removal products as this will greatly reduce the life of the fabric.
